Daniel Softball Cut Policy

 

Athletic Skill

bulletThe overall ability to field, throw, and hit the softball
bulletThe ability to run bases effectively
bulletThe ability to play more than one position
bulletThe overall range of motion, speed, and agility
bulletThe overall knowledge of softball situations in areas of hitting, pitching, base running and defense

 

Attitude/Dedication

bulletAthletes must be “coachable”.  They must demonstrate the ability to listen and follow the instructions of the coach.
bulletRealizing that softball is a team sport, players must put the team ahead of personal goals and ambitions.
bulletDedication to the softball season is important.  Job commitments, vacations, trips, etc. should be scheduled so as not to interfere with practices and games.
bulletDaniel softball players are expected to conduct themselves as model student athletes.  Failure to meet disciplinary team rules will result in suspension of game(s) or of the team.
bulletDaniel softball players are expected to maintain a high academic standard.

 

Practice Schedule/Tryout Dates

bulletVarsity tryouts for athletes not participating in winter sports:  January 26 – January 30.  First cut will be made on that Friday.  Athletes will meet with coaches individually to receive information concerning their team status.
bulletJunior varsity cut dates will be announced during that first week of tryouts.
bulletSecond and possible final cut will be made after winter sports athletes have worked out with the current players.
