Review Guide for Major Test 1 - CP Physical Science

  1. safety rules - know these well (from all three sheets concerning safety)

  2. equipment - only those shown, used, demonstrated in class - be able to draw and/or identify

  3. metric prefixes (kilo, centi, milli)

  4. SI base units, with punctuation

  5. significant figures - know how to count, round, do math with these 

  6. scientific notation - correct form, be able to do math with these (be able to change from one to other)

  7. dimensional analysis (including metric prefixes, scientific notation, sig figs, rounding)

  8. accuracy/precision lab (know definitions also)

  9. ellipse lab - using drawings find all information from lab

  10. measurement with rulers, graduated cylinders, vernier calipers

  11. Meniscus, cohesion, adhesion, use of graduated cylinder, vernier calipers, volume by water displacement

  12. expansion-contraction coefficients (bonus)

  13. average deviation

  14. mini-lab one content

  15. hot-cold freezing water lab design, ice age, loop airplane, experimental method definitions

  16. chapter 1 in textbook (only topics from the chapter on test are those discussed in class)
