Daniel Softball Team Guidelines

The following guidelines are to be observed and complied with by every player and manager on the Varsity and JV teams.

1.  Each player must have her own glove and rubber soled cleats.

2.  Varsity players must dress and report to the field at 3:45 until 5:45 Monday through Friday.  Optional Saturday practices, upon player request,  will be held when there is good weather.   JV practice times will be established by Coach Holder.

3.  Players must dress and report to game field at 4:00 on all home games and be ready to board the bus by 3:40 on away games unless otherwise announced.

4.  All players leaving school for illness should leave a note for Coach Jones in the office as they sign out.  Any practices that must be missed due to medical reasons should be cleared with Coach Jones prior to the day to be missed.  All players must be at school all day on the day of a game and at practice the day before the game. Athletes should never be tardy to class.

5.  All players MUST warm-up together as a team.

6.  All players MUST control their emotions at all times.  Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated and will be subject to disciplinary action by the coaching staff.   NO TEAM MEMBER is ever to argue with an official.   First offense = automatically benched.  Second offense = removal from the team.

7.  No active (turned on) cell phones are allowed in the dugout or field.  The use of phones/music devices on the bus home after a game is acceptable.

8.  Players must listen and obey coaching instructions at all times.  All players must be safety conscious at all times.  Helmets are always to to used with live pitchers and when using the batting cage.   Team managers and all equipment is to be respected at all times.

9.  Team spirit must be maintained by every player.  There will be no put-downs by any team member.  Your job is to build each other’s confidence (way to go, good job, etc.).

10. Any player found in the possession of, under the influence of, or with friends in the possession of or use of alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, cigarettes, or any other drugs at any time will be subject to severe disciplinary action and immediate dismissal from the team.

11. Players must maintain and comply with the school’s academic requirements to retain team membership.  If you have any problems with a class please discuss them with your coach and teacher.

Continued on back…

12.  Report all injuries (no matter how small) to your coach.  Ice all injuries if in doubt at home – no heat.

13.  To prevent illness, eat properly:  give up junk food and some desserts (if you need to lose weight).  Always eat breakfast and try to get 6-8 hours of sleep at night.  For every 2 hours of sleep you lose every night your immune system is cut by 50%.

14.  Check your stats after every game and please question anything you might disagree with.  We make lots of mistakes when training others to keep score.  The stats are for you only.

15.  Set a good example 100% of the time.  Players with class do not bad-mouth any players, coaches, drills, workouts etc. If you show respect toward everyone they will return that respect.  If you have any problems or suggestions, please see Coach Jones.

All of the above rules and regulations must be observed and maintained by every player and manager on the team and are subject to revision and amendment by the coaching staff, as deemed necessary for the interest of the team.
