CP Level Density/Metallurgy Test Review

Topics for  CP: Density and Metallurgy  (some topics may be excluded)

1.  All metallurgy notes and discussion question
2.  Density notes, examples, problems (involving mass, volume, and density)
3.  Density of liquids lab (be able to do entire lab including all graphing and slope calculations - see notes below for more slope information)
4.  Density of solids lab (must be able to use formulas for volume of cylinders, spheres, cubes, and be able to find volume of irregular solids by water displacement)
5.  know how to find percent error and percent difference (given formulas)
6.  know dependent and independent variables (definitions)
7. know qualitative and quantitative definitions
8.  know hypothesis and related notes
9.  know steps to light Bunsen burners
10. Archimedes crown problem and buoyancy
11. know general ideas from pencil density problem
12. know balloon problem procedure
13. know how to find the mass of several cubic meters of any material (given density)
14. all density demonstrations
15. know hot/cold water freezing notes (including ice age notes)

Potentially we may cover viscosity and some alchemy for the next test.

Sample slope and equation of the line problems:

Given the coordinates of two points on a straight line, one given as (X1, Y1) = (1.5 s, 10.22 m) and (X2, Y2) = (8.3 s, 40.06 m)

    a) what is the slope of the straight line?
    b) what is the y - intercept?
    c) what is the equation of the line?

    a) 4.4 m/s
    b) 3.6 m
    c) y = 4.4x + 3.6

formula for slope:    Y2 - Y1  /  X2 - X1

formula for y - intercept:  b = Y1 - mX1  where m = slope

equation of line:    y = mX + b     where m = slope and b = y - intercept
