Density of Solids
(Skeleton
of true lab report)
|
| To find the density of the solid objects | |
| To practice using geometrical methods of finding volume | |
| ... |
EQUIPMENT:
vernier caliper, graduated cylinder, lab scales,
...
SAFETY RULES:
| Do not put the sphere in the graduated cylinder | |
| ... |
PROCEDURE:
* see notecard *
DATA:
* see notecard *
CALCULATIONS:
volume of cylinder:
π r2 L
(3.14)(0.62 cm)(0.62 cm)(6.15 cm) = 7.42 cm3
volume of sphere: ...
RESULTS:
| geometric method: cylinder density = 2.7 g/cm3 | |
| water displacement method: cylinder density = 2.5 g/cm3 |
CONCLUSIONS:
In the completion of this lab my lab group found the density of the
cylinder using the geometric volume method to
be 0.50 g/cm3 in error....
DISCUSSION:
I can use lab scales correctly, measure lengths accurately with a
vernier caliper, ...
1) answer to question one here...
2) all other questions found in the lab guide are placed here
Students will attach their notecard to the back of the report. It contains the procedure and data collected along with observations made during the lab. Note that this is a skeleton report. This is designed to show the format rather than the completed sections.
