Mission:  Physical Science is a composite of chemistry, physics, and mathematics.  Laboratory investigations, demonstrations, and the use of computers are coupled with student interaction in discussion to provide the foundation for these courses.

 Honors Physical Science   (syllabus)

This class is designed for students that plan to take advanced science courses at Daniel and continue on in science/engineering at the college level. Maximum student participation, a variety of laboratory experiences, and an in-depth coverage of introductory topics in chemistry and physics are the cornerstones of Physical Science at Daniel High School.  Honors Physical Science integrates rigorous inquiry based lab work with a mathematical approach to the class work. The use of the Internet and computers will enhance the world wide scope of the class.

"Life itself is a race, marked by a start and a finish.  It is what we learn during the race, and how we apply it, that determines whether our participation has had particular value.  If we learn from each success, and each failure, and then improve ourselves through this process, then, at the end, we will have fulfilled our potential and performed well."

 College Prep Physical Science  (syllabus)

This class is the standard college preparatory level physical science course. Students will continue on from this course to take another 3 years of science courses to prepare them for college.  Maximum student participation, a variety of laboratory experiences, and an in-depth coverage of introductory topics in chemistry and physics are the cornerstones of Physical Science at Daniel High School.

"Each man is a tool in his own hands.  Mankind is a tool in its own hands.  Our greatest satisfaction doesn't come from the rewards of our work, but from the working itself;  and our greatest responsibility is to sharpen, and improve the tool that is ourselves so as to make it capable of tackling bigger jobs."
                                                                                     by Gordon R. Dickson

 Tech Prep Physical Science (syllabus)

This course is designed to help prepare students for the work place.  Maximum student participation, a variety of laboratory experiences, and an in-depth coverage of introductory topics in chemistry and physics are the cornerstones of Physical Science at Daniel High School. Tech Prep Physical Science includes many topics of practical consideration as they relate to the work place.

" Some individuals take on life fully, wholly, no matter what the odds are.  They are willing to live dangerously.  They will blaze a new trail if the old one is clogged up.  They laugh at obstacles.  Above all, they have a triumphant faith.  They live because they take what resources they have and use them."  by Bradford Angier

Astronomy

Students study the history of astronomy, movements of the stars and planets,
seasons, measurements, and physical processes taking place in stars.  The evolution
of the stars and planets is covered as well as a brief look at man's attempt to reach the stars.

GeoScience

Students in this course will investigate physical and historical geology as well as
meteorology, climatology, oceanography, and environmental geology.  Labs, videos, and
projects will complement the class work.

Building for Tomorrow

"The purpose of our discipline is to make each person a competitor only with himself, for only when you have mastered that demon are you ready to challenge others."
