Nine Week Projects
Honors/CP classes

Due to the development of end-of-course testing in Physical Science the nine week projects will be student generated review guides.  Each student will then have a thorough review preparation for the testing at the end of the year.  The material in these review guides is material that will be covered quickly in class.

1st Nine Weeks:  Chapters 17, 18, 19:  Waves, Sound, and Optics

2nd Nine Weeks:  Chapters 20 and 21:  Electricity and Magnetism

3rd Nine Weeks:  Chapter 14 and 15:  Work and Energy

4th Nine Weeks:  This nine week project will be a poster review of one major lab/topic from the year. (more information will be given later)

Preliminary Guidelines:

bullet

The nine week review guide will be due at the end of the seventh week during the nine week period.  I will add those dates when they become available.  The guide will count 25% of the grade.  It should include a review of the material found in the textbook.  I may also supplement your guide with information and the internet may be used also.   An in-class test on the material will count for the other 75%.  Students may use their review guide on the test. It may be handwritten but a typed project is preferred.  NO PHOTOCOPYING OR CUT&PASTE SECTIONS ARE ALLOWED.

bullet

The review guide might include a table of contents.  Each major section should include key terms, descriptions of labs performed, sample calculations, and in-depth descriptions of the major topics covered.  A question/answer section should be included at the end of each major section.  The student should try to anticipate the type questioning that might show up on test and/or the end-of-course testing.

bullet

Remember that the main focus of this assignment is to help the student prepare for the end-of-course test.  The more information you include the greater the benefit at the end of the year.
